Balancing, juggling, making it work (Year of Tim Gunn check in)

When I picked Tim Gunn’s phrase “Make it work” as my 2017 mantra, I had no idea how apt it would be! Since completing my Library and Information Technician diploma in January (and finally receiving it in March), I have been fortunate to have picked up quite a bit of work through the two school boards that I am working for. In fact, I have had full-time hours for all of April and May is looking to be the same; June is filling up quickly and then it’s the summer break! While I am used to being busy, Read more […]

March Break in Ottawa 2017

It’s that time again in Ottawa – March Break is March 13-17, 2017 (that’s next week)! Here are some suggestions for things to do in Ottawa (or wherever you live)! I will always suggest the library first! The Ottawa Public Library has free activities for kids of all ages at all of their branches, and if you have a library card for your child, you can register them online. 2017 will be my year of Tim Gunn

2016 was my Year of Yoda, with his mantra of “Do. Or do not. There is no try.” being my focus for the year. This year, that doesn’t seem to fit my life as well. I’ve completed my library technician diploma and have started doing casual work for two school boards. I’ve become a running convert and am considering joining the Zombies, Run! Virtual 5K this spring for something fun to do (and no, I cannot believe I’m referring to running 5 kilometers as ‘fun’ either but here we are!). I still do quite Read more […]

Here’s to 2017!

2016 was some kind of year! While there were so many tragic, disappointing and upsetting public events and deaths, personally it was actually quite a good year. My little family is thriving, we welcomed a new nephew (my brother’s first child and the first boy cousin on either side of our families), I’ve taken up running and am quite likely in the best shape and health I’ve ever been, and I’ve completed my college diploma! Now comes the nerve-wracking part: job hunting. I’ve successfully joined two Read more […]
