Wordless Wednesday – Mud Monsters
White pants + unexpected mud to play in at the park = mud monsters!

When Ashlyn was born, she was bald. She stayed that way for a long, long time. She turned 2 before I could even put her hair into teeny baby pigtails, but in the last year her hair has gotten longer and thicker and, well, crazier. That’s my fault – crazy, curly hair is in her DNA! 2 weeks ago I managed to convince her to get her very first haircut. We went to the salon that I go to and once Ashlyn determined that the hairdresser was only going to take a small bit off (probably less than half an Read more [...]
Since we’re big Star Wars fans in our house (as evidenced by Rowan’s Star Wars birthday party and our Star Wars cookies), it’s no surprise that we bought tickets for the Star Wars Identities exhibit at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum as soon as they became available. We all had a lot of fun and the girls got to pick a toy from the gift shop at the end which they wanted to play with as soon as we got in the van. The next day Rowan was playing quietly and when we went to investigate, this Read more [...]
After months and months of heavy layers and feet of snow, it’s such a wonderful change of pace to have splash pants and muddy rubber boots at my front door!
While visiting my mother-in-law this weekend, we went to her church on Saturday for their annual egg hunt and Easter celebration. The girls had so much fun and even had their faces painted which was definitely the highlight of the day!
I don’t usually do a theme for my daughters’ birthday parties, but Rowan is obsessed with Star Wars and once we decided to make her an R2-D2 cake I couldn’t resist checking out Pinterest (you can find me here) and I just couldn’t resist giving a Star Wars birthday party theme a try. First, the decorations: the birthday banner that I made last year balloons from a local party store (we give each family that comes to the party at least one balloon to take home) and a little Read more [...]

Just 2 more days until my baby girl turns two! The speed that time is flying by is blowing my mind these days. It doesn’t help matters that she’s telling everyone that she’s turning 3. Hang on baby girl, you’re still 1 for the moment! Pictures taken by Elizabeth Fulton Photography Read more [...]
This was our view 2 weeks ago in Florida: And this was taken just minutes ago in front of our house: I’m so over winter! Read more [...]
The weather was slightly less freezing on Sunday so we decided to attempt Winterlude. The last time that we went was 2 years ago so we were excited to check it out. We got to cross on the canal – no skating for us this time – and see some of the sculptors working on their ice sculptures! Unfortunately the wind and cold were just too much for the preschooler so our visit was much shorter than we hoped. Winterlude runs until February 18th so if you’re in Ottawa, make sure to check it out! Read more [...]
