I'm starting to believe it when I hear "cherish these years, they go by so fast". It feels like just yesterday that I had a toddler and a newborn, and even though they're only 3 and 5 now, our lives are becoming a whole new kind of busy and I think the years are really going to start flying now! I know that lots of kids hold signs for their 'back to school' pictures now (I haven't been on the ball enough to do it myself but I love the idea) and one thing that is on many of those signs is what Read more [...]

Mommy’s home alone

It seemed like this day would never come, and yet here I am, sitting in silence. For the first time since I became a mom 5.5 years ago, I will have some child-free time during the day. New (school) year resolutions

I have a confession: I don't get the whole "New Year's Eve" hype. January 1 doesn't feel any different to me than December 31 did; I don't feel motivated to make changes or that I'm starting with a clean slate. September, though? September is my New Year. New season, new courses for me, new activities for the girls. New stationary at every turn; pens and highlighters and Post-It's just begging to be bought at bargain prices. This is when I make plans to work more (ok, any) exercise into Read more [...]

Nerd Block Jr is fun mail for kids (#giveaway)

Nerd Block is a pretty cool idea: you subscribe and then every month, a mystery package full of 'nerd gear' arrives in your mailbox! While the original Nerd Block is geared towards adults, there are also Nerd Block Jr subscription boxes for boys and girls aged 6-11. We were sent both the boys and girls August mystery packages from Nerd Block Jr to check out and the girls could not wait to tear into them! As is typical with kids, the toys are now strewn about our home and I didn't get Read more [...]
