Keeping Busy, Finding Balance

I'm almost glad for the rain today, because I can work at my computer and not feel bad that we're inside instead of enjoying the spring weather! Like many of my fellow moms, I have a hard time figuring out how to balance all of 'my' stuff (blogging, college courses, exercise, hobbies), 'kid' stuff (dance and swimming lessons, storytime and school, play dates and outdoor time), 'family' stuff (special activities and outings, time together reading/playing/watching a movie), 'couple' stuff (spending Read more [...]

Spring into warmer weather with Kidorable

As a long-time Kidorable fan, I'm used to being asked "Where did you get that adorable {rain coat/rain boots/towel}?" when we're out and about. I feel good about recommending Kidorable to friends and strangers because I know that their products will stand up to whatever kids throw at them! What I learned from #AltonBrownLive in Ottawa

A few important things I learned from the Alton Brown Live show in Ottawa last night: Trout ice cream should not be a thing, but carbonated chocolate ice cream sounds like heaven! Beware of airport shrimp cocktail. Don't forget the salt (which came in handy as I was making sourdough bread today and did, in fact, almost forget to add the salt) How to properly toss pizza dough! I had no idea it was all done with the back of your hands and now I can't wait to try it when we make pizza this Read more [...]

Easter activities in Ottawa

This is the first Easter since we've lived in Ottawa that we're staying home and not hosting any visitors, so I've been looking for fun ways to spend our time together as a family. Here is my list of what kid-friendly activities are happening April 3 through 6, 2015: The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum (aka "The Farm") has lots going on! Easter egg hunts for the under 6 crowd, "Signs of Spring" hunt for the older kids, food demonstrations, and of course all of the animals! These activities Read more [...]
