What’s for dinner – Tuna Noodle Casserole

It’s been cold and rainy and very “fall” like around here and I wanted to make some comfort food for dinner the other night.  This recipe comes from the mom of a childhood friend of mine; I actually had to call my mom to get it because I’d lost my copy and nothing that I could find online sounded right.  The secret ingredient?  Chow mein noodles! TUNA NOODLE CASSEROLE Ingredients 1 can cream of mushroom soup 3/4 can milk 1 can tuna, drained and flaked 1 stalk celery, chopped 1 small Read more […]

HUGGIES® Baby and You events at Loblaws (giveaway)

Rowan has started solids now and she enjoys food far more than her sister did at this age so I’m doing my best to come up with healthy and tasty recipes for her in the hopes that she will be a less picky eater.  I’m at our local Loblaws at least once a week as it is, so I was very interested to learn that there are *free* HUGGIES® Baby and You in-store events happening right now across the country! Between October 18th and November 2nd, each event will highlight a dish for Mom (Quinoa Pancakes Read more […]

What’s for dinner – homemade buns

I was very intimidated to try homemade buns for some reason, but my good friend Tasha sent me her recipe and it’s so much easier than I thought it would be!  I don’t buy dinner rolls any more and it sounds very impressive Read more […]

What’s for dinner – cornbread

My husband made some cornbread a few years ago and still talks about how good it was…except that for the life of him, he can’t remember where the recipe was from.  He was very happy when I came across this recipe the other day and decided to make it last night. Thanks to my friend Emily for posting the link on her Facebook and letting Ashlyn and I sample some at our playdate!  I made a couple of minor changes to the original so below is how I made it, and will make it again.  This makes Read more […]

What’s for (Christmas) dinner – Turkey and gravy

This past weekend, we hosted our very first Christmas for my husband’s family.  This is the first time in six years that we’ve been in the same province as our family for the holidays and we were so excited to have everyone to our home and to prepare a traditional Christmas dinner! I got this brine recipe from my Aunt Jina, who is definitely one of my “go to” people for excellent recipes.  As always, I was not disappointed!  My husband helpfully told me AFTER I’d put the turkey in the brine Read more […]
