I love to kayak. Who knew?

I have never been what anyone would classify as “sporty”, but I do try to stay active. I’m not a big fan of going to the gym or doing exercise DVDs (although I do them out of necessity). What I really enjoy are ways that I can be active, but also spend time with my family. Something like biking. Recently, after years of talking about it, we finally took the leap and bought two kayaks! We live about a 30 second drive from a conservation area that has a public boat launch dock, so when the end of Read more […]

Off the hook: my crochet projects with pattern links

It’s been about a year since I taught myself to crochet and quite a while since I’ve posted pictures of my projects. I’ve been keeping a pretty steady pace and wanted to share! I had to remake Rowan’s hat that I linked to above because she grew and it didn’t fit anymore. This picture was taken in January – I really hope it still fits her this fall! We’d managed to get tickets to see the Foo Fighters for Wednesday night and with the Pan Am games craziness, we decided to take a GO train in and just walk or use public transit instead of driving. That turned out to be an excellent choice! We were headed to The Burger’s Priest to grab dinner before the concert when I looked down University Read more […]

Sometimes I don’t recognize myself, and that’s ok

“I don’t even know who I am anymore!” It’s a statement that I’ve been jokingly saying a lot lately and it really has me thinking. While I still certainly recognize the ‘old’ me, there are a lot of things that have changed about myself now, some that I wanted to happen and many that I never would have anticipated! When I was in seventh grade, I read “The Hobbit” and hated it. I had to read it again in grade nine and I still hated it. Read it for the third time in university for a children’s Read more […]
