We usually go to a pumpkin patch to get our pumpkins right from the field, but rainy weather and travel have foiled our plans so this year we went to a local farm and choose from their stacks. There was a hay bale stack to climb, loads of pumpkins, a petting zoo and even free pony rides (Ashlyn doesn’t look very impressed in the picture but she had fun, honest) so we had a great time with a bit less work than usual! We finally got to Mountain Apple Orchards to pick some apples on the weekend and I’m so glad that we did! The girls had a blast picking – and eating – apples right from the tree, and we scored some delicious apple cider, apple donuts and a tart cherry and apple jelly that I’m planning to use on a baked brie soon. My husband and I took a trip to NYC to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary – our first trip away from the little ones by ourselves! We had an amazing time, ate our way through our favourite Food Network stars (gelato at Eataly was incredible, dinner at Les Halles – Anthony Bourdain, and the most amazing lunch at Bar Americain – Bobby Flay, who I adore, amongst so very much more) and got to reconnect as adults, not just parents. A’s first day of preschool was on Friday. Do you think she was a little excited? Yes, that was mid-jump. She’s been home with me ever since she was born so I was a little worried about how her first morning would go, but she went right in and made herself at home as soon as we arrived.
