Ice Cube Painting for Kids

I saw this floating around the Internet last summer but never had a chance to try it out.  With all the hot weather we’ve been having lately, ice cube painting seemed like the perfect way to have some crafty fun and stay cool at the same time!   First, I filled an ice cube tray that we use for crafts with water. Then A helped me by squeezing some drops of food colouring into each compartment to make different colours; she loved doing this! We stirred the colours with qtips and left them in to Read more […]

How to make an owl birthday cake

I’ve made a turtle cake and a duck cake for Ashlyn’s birthdays but I was having a hard time deciding on what to make for Rowan.  Thankfully I found a guide on how to make an owl cake on Pinterest and I knew what I wanted to make for Rowan’s first birthday!  I started with my carrot cake recipe and made 2 9 inch round cakes.  That was the easy part! Easy Do It Yourself Reusable Birthday Banner

With less than 2 weeks until Rowan’s first birthday, I thought I’d better get crafting!  I started with a reusable birthday banner.  I considered taking a ‘before’ picture of all of the elements that I was going to use but decided that it would be pointless; what I think I’m going to do and what I end up doing when I get scrapbooking are two totally different things. This banner cost me nothing to make since I had all of the supplies in my scrapbooking stash, but you could make it fairly inexpensively.  Read more […]

First birthday ideas found on Pinterest

I can hardly believe it, but Rowan will be turning one in just a couple of weeks!  We’re not having a big party, just a play date with our friends that involves cake (and probably balloons) but that hasn’t stopped me from gathering ideas from Pinterest. I love this birthday shirt and might just try to make one myself: Source: naptimecrafting.blogspot.com via NotJustBabyBrain on Pinterest   Then there are all the fun decorations.  A good friend of mine used this tutorial to Read more […]
