Yummy Nummies let kids create their own treats in the kitchen, without needing to use the oven or stove. My daughters love to watch cooking shows and help in the kitchen, so you can imagine their excitement when the Yummy Nummies S’More Maker Playset arrived in the mail. Included in the set are:
- 1 playset
– 1 kitchen magic tray, 1 plate
– 1 campfire spatula & 1 spoon
– 1 measuring scoop
– 2 graham cracker mix packets
– 1 chocolate mix packet
– 1 marshmallow mix packet
– 1 instruction sheet
There was very little set up required; just open the packages, cut the plastic tray where indicated, add batteries to the ‘fire’ and you’re ready. Recommended for ages 6+, I found that my 7 year old could do most of the measuring and mixing on her own, though the shallow depth of the plastic trays made it easy to have spills. An adult was required to pour the liquid chocolate and marshmallow mixtures into the dispenser inside the fire.
Both girls enjoyed making the graham crackers (these required a bit of time in the microwave, and a parent to flip them in the tray), and the chocolate mixture was quite good, but we found that the marshmallow didn’t quite taste right. Even following the directions, it was very runny, as you can see from the top left picture – we hadn’t even pressed the dispenser, it was just sort of oozing out on it’s own! The finished product is quite small, about the size of a Looney (roughly 1 inch square), and you make 4 graham crackers at a time so we did a second batch so they could each have two. It was a lot of work for a little treat for our girls, but I think it would be a fun activity during a play date or sleepover for kids who were a little bit older and who could do the whole thing on their own.
The Yummy Nummies S’More Maker Playset is available at Toys “R” Us for the suggested price of $34.99.
