There so many special events happening in Ottawa right now! Here are a few ideas on where to go and what to do the weekend of June 26-28, 2016.
- Don’t feel like cooking dinner at the end of the week? Me either! We’re hitting up Ribfest on Sparks Street for dinner tonight. Check out the hashtag #ottawaribfest on various social media sites and be prepared to drool. Ribfest started on Wednesday and is open from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday.
- The RCMP Canadian Sunset Ceremonies are being held from 7:00 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the RCMP Rockcliffe Stables (1 Sandridge Road, Ottawa). There is a Kids’ Zone that has face painting, Safety Bear and more that runs from 5:00 p.m. – 7 p.m., and the pre-show, which features a different artist each show, is from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The best part is that this event is free, including free parking off Sir George-Étienne-Cartier Parkway (formerly the Rockcliffe Parkway), though you may make a donation to the RCMP Foundation. The Foundation provides funding to community initiatives across the country in support of Canadian youth, and this year a portion of the proceeds collected will go to the Red Cross to support the families in Fort McMurray.
- There is also the Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival! This is so much fun. Free admission, free parking, free concerts, a kids area with special guests, bouncy castles, crafts and so much more – like watching the actual dragon boat races! The weather should be perfect this weekend no matter what time of day you choose to check it out.
- The TD Ottawa Jazz Festival is on from June 22 to July 3!
