Lines will be drawn when friends become foes.CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR asks which side are you on: Team Captain America, or Team Iron Man? After seeing an advanced screening on Wednesday night, we are firmly #TeamCap!
In case you’ve somehow missed all of the promotion surrounding this soon-to-be blockbuster which opens May 6, 2016 (that’s TODAY!), here’s what you can expect:
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts.
Even with a run time of roughly 2.5 hours, this movie was tightly paced and full of impressive action sequences. There is a long fight between Team Cap and Team Iron Man that sets a new standard for action sequences as far as I’m concerned. The cast has such great chemistry together, and there were so many one-liners to keep the audience laughing. Speaking of the audience, it was clearly full of Marvel fans because when Black Panther appeared for the first time, there were loud cheers and clapping! I was delighted when Ant-Man made his appearance (which was a surprise to me, but apparently he was in the posters and I just didn’t recognize his costume) because I love Paul Rudd, and the new Spiderman could carry his own movie easily and fit right in with the rest of the Avengers.
I realized right before “Captain America: Civil War” started that I hadn’t seen the latest Avengers or Iron Man movies but I was able to follow the plot with no problem. You definitely need to have seen “Captain America: Winter Soldier” before you watch this one. We saw it in 3D and while it was well done, I don’t think you’re missing out on much if you see the regular version instead. This movie is well worth the trip to the theatre to see on the big screen!
