2016: The Year of Yoda

YodaStarWarsIdentitiesLast year, I decided to try using one word as a guiding principle for the year. I chose ‘thoughtful’ and while I wouldn’t consider it a huge success, since I rather forgot about it in the last quarter of the year, it was a good way to focus my thoughts and I want to try it again for 2016.

I spent a few days thinking about it, trying out different words and phrases to see what seemed to fit the way that I’d like to see this new year go. One phrase kept coming to mind, which will not surprise anyone who knows me. I’ve given in and fully embraced the Star Wars love that permeates our home. Perhaps I chose it because my youngest daughter has both a book and a plush toy that play this phrase. This year, I’m taking on a motto from a very famous Jedi master.

“Do. Or do not. There is no try”.

Yoda’s words are a reminder to me that things work best when I commit to action instead of putting something off until later, and that good intentions don’t mean much if I don’t get around to doing something about them!

Do you have a word, phrase or resolution for 2016? I’d love to hear about it!

I think your phrase is a great one! I’m hoping to learn to channel my focus and energy on things that are important to me in life, so I’m going to use “where focus goes, energy flows” as my phrase for the year :)

That’s a great phrase, Liz! I may borrow that as a secondary phrase to remind myself not to dwell on things.

Such wisdom! I’m just going to try to avoid clickbait this year and only wear pants that fit. No more low rise jeans!
