I have always tried to do seasonal activities and crafts with my daughters, but Remembrance Day was not something that we ‘celebrated’, per say. I explained the significance of the poppy to them and always make a point to buy one – and try not to lose it – each year, but I’ve never done any crafts or special activities leading up to it. Now that my daughters are in school and I’m a Sparks leader, I need to up my game and I found some crafts that focus on the poppy and the idea of peace that are perfect for younger kids when you don’t want the focus to be on the war aspect as much.
