Did you know that this Wednesday, February 25, is Pink Shirt Day? Started in 2008 in Nova Scotia when two high school students organized a day to wear pink in sympathy with a Grade 9 boy who was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt, it has taken off across the country. Toys “R” Us had a special event this past Saturday where they gave out 100 of their “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully” shits at each of their locations. I was sent one shirt for my daughter to wear to school as well as a shirt for myself. I know that bullying and bully prevention is a hot topic at my daughter’s school and the anti-bullying message is so important! “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully” is a great catch-phrase that is easy for kids to remember and understand, and my daughter loves the design of her shirt (though, she’s pretty pro-pink anything). Will you be wearing a pink shirt on Wednesday?
