Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy review and discount code (#DisneyonIceInsider)

We were able to see Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy at the Canadian Tire Centre here in Ottawa on Friday night and we had a great time! There was a lot of excitement in the days leading up to the show and I was a little afraid that it wouldn’t live up to the hype, but both my 5.5 year old and my 3 -for-2-more-weeks year old really enjoyed it. A few things you might like to know before you arrive:

  • Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy runs for 2 hours, including a brief intermission;
  • The first half is an introduction featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy followed by Cars, The Little Mermaid, and the Disney Fairies; the second half is all Toy Story 3;
  • parking in the parking lot is $9; I don’t think there are any other alternatives to parking on site;
  • it’s pretty cool inside (which makes sense, since it is on ice after all!) so if your princess wants to wear her Disney Princess dress, make sure she has on a long-sleeved shirt underneath or has a sweater!

The high point for all of us was the Disney Fairies. Tinker Bell and her friends have been popular in our home for just about 4 years now and the love shows no signs of stopping. Queen Clarion was a surprise hit at the show; I imagine her glowing dress and ‘flying’ played a big part of that! Cars were quite impressive too, since I was expecting that it would be people in car costumes, not actual cars driving on the ice. My husband and I are still trying to figure out exactly how they did it!

The first act was much more exciting for us than the second; in fact, I wish that the show had been reversed so that it ended with the energy of the fairies bringing spring, instead of the Toy Story 3 ending of “kids grow up and stop loving their toys”, which felt like an odd way to end things. The plot stayed too true to the movie and my youngest couldn’t figure out what was happening since the toys are given to Bonnie, but we never see her. Still, Barbie and Ken’s big numbers and the dancing Army figures went a long way towards keeping the girls attention. We stayed until the very end, and considering that’s almost 2 hours past their regular bedtime, I’d say this was a success!
