The backyard makeover is complete

As I mentioned in my backyard overhaul post, what started as just changing up the kids backyard toys has evolved into a complete backyard makeover! We finally chose and purchased our patio furniture so I think it’s safe to say that the backyard is done…except for the barbecue, but that will have to wait until next year. Here it is, in as close to a panoramic shot as I could manage! In case you’re wondering where things are from: the basketball net is Little Tikes and was a curbside Read more […]

How one little change led to a backyard overhaul

Over the winter, my husband and I discussed what we wanted to do with our backyard this year. I knew that I wanted to update the house and play area with toys that were meant for kids, not toddlers, and I convinced him that it would be fairly inexpensive because we could sell the old toys and use that money towards the new stuff. She shoots, she scores with Little Tikes Clearly Sports Hockey and #MGAToybox

Is there anything more Canadian feeling than watching your kids play hockey? This may come as a bit of a surprise, but my daughters actually enjoy watching hockey (the Olympics were a big hit and they had a lot of fun watching their uncle play in a rec game a few weeks ago). As soon as Rowan saw it, she told me with great excitement “now I can play hockey with Grandpa” and demanded Read more […]

PlasmaCar uses kid, not battery, power for maximum fun (#giveaway)

Most of the time, they share…or more accurately, they fight a bit, whine and cry, and I make the decision about who’s turn it is or if the item should be taken away until they’re ready to share. I could tell that our PlasmaCar was going to be one of those coveted items this year. It’s been two Read more […]

The first long weekend of 2014!

If you’re Canadian, odds are good that you enjoyed the Victoria Day long weekend that just passed! We were so lucky to have fantastic weather in Ottawa, especially since earlier in the week they had been calling for rain the whole time. Ashlyn was given a Rainbow Loom for her birthday a couple of weeks ago, so we spent some time working on bracelets together (translated: she picked the elastic colours and tried with success to hook a few of them together, but mostly she complained about how slow Read more […]
