GoldieBlox Movie Maker

It always makes me happy when a toy that we love, that is also teaching my children something, is so successful that there are different versions available. Ashlyn was given GoldieBlox and the Spinning Machine last year and while it took her a little while to really figure out how to use it, it has been getting a lot of play over the last couple of months, so I can’t wait to surprise her with the new GoldieBlox and the Movie Machine!

Goldie and her friends need to save the Bloxtown Film Festival and you can help! Kids will love the chance to learn how to make their very own movies by building a zoetrope (that’s a pre-cinema animation device, in case you aren’t familiar with the term). GoldieBlox and the Movie Machine comes with:

  • 1 storybook and 1 character figurine
  • 4 movie packs, plus instructions on how to make more on your own
  • 1 movie hoop and 1 movie reel
  • 2 mini pegboards and 4 pegs
  • 2 long axles, 4 short axles, and 2 mini axles
  • 2 big wheel ends and 4 small wheel ends
  • 1 small wheel hub
  • 8 star stoppers
  • 4 elbow joints
  • 1 crank
  • 1 noodle belt
  • 1 star coupler

Everything is compatible with all of the other GoldieBlox sets so there is no limit to the kinds of adventures and fun you can create. There is also a FREE APP available, but it’s only compatible with Apple products and since we’re an Android home we can’t make use of it. I really hope GoldieBlox creates an Android version of the app so that we can make movies digitally too, but I think that the using Movie Machine will be plenty of fun all on its own!

GoldieBlox and the Movie Machine is recommended for ages 6+,  sells for a suggested retail price of $29.99 USD and can be found in stores and online now!

Thanks for the review. I am glad your daughter is getting much use out of the toy. I was worried this toy would be a one-time play only..
