How to sharpen your disposable razor using an old pair of jeans

I had never heard of ‘stropping’ (the proper term for sharpening something) until a few weeks ago when I read online that you can actually sharpen disposable razor blades at home, easily, using an old pair of jeans. I was skeptical but I figured it was worth a shot, because those razor blades are getting expensive and they don’t seem to last nearly as long as I think they should!

I cut somewhere around 2-3 inches off the leg of an old pair of jeans. Hold it so the seams are at the sides. Then you just lightly run the razor blade from the right to the left 15 or 20 times (takes all of 15 seconds) and voila! A blade almost as sharp as a new one and many more uses. You can repeat this stropping every time the blades get dull until it stops working; I’ve been using the same razor blade for at least a month now and it’s still going strong.
