If you’re Canadian, odds are good that you enjoyed the Victoria Day long weekend that just passed! We were so lucky to have fantastic weather in Ottawa, especially since earlier in the week they had been calling for rain the whole time.
Ashlyn was given a Rainbow Loom for her birthday a couple of weeks ago, so we spent some time working on bracelets together (translated: she picked the elastic colours and tried with success to hook a few of them together, but mostly she complained about how slow I was in actualizing her creations). My husband spent a good part of the weekend assembling a new wooden playhouse for the backyard, which the girls are thoroughly enjoying, when they aren’t exploring on the new climbing dome (note: we’ll be putting down mulch soon, hopefully this weekend if possible). My brother and his girlfriend came for a visit so the girls put on their matching dresses for maximum cuteness before we went out for lunch.
Since Monday was a holiday, we decided to pack a picnic and have lunch on the lawn of Parliament after checking out some of the tulips downtown. The girls had a blast looking at the flowers, running around outside, seeing some of the monuments and walking across the bridges at the locks.
This is my favourite picture of the day. Yes, the background is crisp but the girls are blurry. Yes, my angle and framing could probably have been better. But look at how much joy is on their faces! I can tell that this summer is going to be so much fun now that we have two little girls who are so much fun to take out and about!
What did you do last weekend?
