I didn’t realize until this year that “spring fever” is a real thing and that kids can feel it too. After the seemingly endless, freezing winter that we experienced this year, every child that I’ve come into contact with over the last couple of weeks has been losing their minds! The pent-up energy is palpable and I do not envy the teachers who have to deal with it all day, every day. For the April #MGAToybox, MGA Entertainment sent me a perfect way to help combat spring fever: the Little Tikes Lean to Turn Scooter.
Full disclosure: our Little Tikes Lean to Turn Scooter arrived the Thursday before Easter. Between all of our Easter travels, finishing two classes and having final exams in both of them, planning and executing a fifth birthday party and of course, the rain that Ottawa has been receiving, this review has taken me much longer to post than I had intended! From the moment that Rowan saw the Little Tikes Lean to Turn Scooter in the box, she was dying to try it out. You do need to assemble it but it took me longer to get it out of the package than it did to attach the handle to the board. We had it indoors for a week or so but there isn’t a good straightaway to really get going so we took it outside the first chance that we had, and you can see from the look on Rowan’s face that it was everything she’d hoped it would be and then some!
With two wheels at the front for stability, this is a great first scooter for kids. They turn by leaning on the handle which is a bit of a learning curve, but the major advantage to that is that kids will go straight by default. It’s also a fun way for younger kids to feel like a ‘big kid’!
The weight limit on the Little Tikes Lean to Turn Scooter is 44 pounds so that means that the scooter can be enjoyed by both of my girls. Ashlyn took her turn and had a blast!
I am so happy to add a scooter to our collection of active, outdoor toys! I think it’s great for their balance and anything that encourages my girls to go outside and burn off some of their crazy energy is a winner in my books. Look for the hashtag #MGAToyBox for more on Twitter and Facebook.
