I did a review and giveaway of Curious Critters in 2011 and we still regularly look at all of the beautiful animals photographed in it, so I was very happy to learn that David FitzSimmons has released a sequel. Curious Critters Volume Two features 20 animals in the most amazing detail. My daughters have loved studying each picture (taken by David himself) since you can see every detail of each animal; it almost seems like they should walk off the page!
It’s hard to pick a favourite, but the Eastern Cottontails are definitely near the top for cuteness alone. The song for the Predaceous Diving Beetle is quite catchy, and who doesn’t love a Great Horned Owl? (aside: did you know that an owl’s eyeballs are set in their sockets, so they have to move their whole head to look around? Just one fun tidbit of information that I’ve learned from Curious Critters Volume Two)
What really makes Curious Critters Volume Two interesting is each animal tells their own story in their own voice. And if you really want to hear the stories told in their own voices, check out the Curious Critters Audiobooks. Keep an eye out this fall for Curious Critters Marine as well!
Two lucky readers will each win a copy of Curious Critters Volume Two!
