Amid all the hustle and bustle of the holidays – and can you believe there is still almost a month until Christmas? How can that seem so far and yet so close at the same time? – we try to keep most of our routines in place. A big part of our bedtime routine is the all-important story and while we let the girls pick most nights, we try to have a nice variety of books in the house so that Mom and Dad don’t get too tired of reading the same thing over and over. I was approached by Chungaboo to review their latest children’s book, The Well, and I thought it sounded like a nice addition to our library.
I wasn’t entirely sure what The Well was about based on the write-up on their website, but I was intrigued.
“Nestled in bed, dreams fill my head, when a tap on my window is heard.
Wipe sleep from my eyes, to find a surprise, in the form of a beautiful bird.
Should I follow his lead? Should I stay or proceed? He has taken me to the well.
My curiosity grows, about what it below. There is only one way to tell.”
I chose the print copy because I’m a sucker for a beautiful book, and The Well does not disappoint! The illustrations are full of imagination and texture and the rhyming verse is fun to read and listen to. The afternoon that it arrived, I read it to Ashlyn, and then she had her father reread it immediately. She even took it to school as her favourite book!
There is also a digital version available through iTunes that has professional narration and an interactive sketchpad. This could be great entertainment for the littles during holiday travel!
THREE lucky readers will each win a copy of The Well!
