I know it’s not fun to think about, especially since summer seems to have come back to Ottawa this week, but winter is coming. (Yes, I’m a Game of Thrones fan.) While I don’t like to buy seasonal things too far in advance, I really hate being unprepared for a sudden cold front or even…you know, that white stuff? That’s cold and stays on the ground? Blech.
Anyways, since this is Ashlyn’s first year of school I wanted to make sure that I was getting her a pair of winter boots that will keep her feet warm and dry when she’s outside every day at school, and of course she has to be able to get them off and on easily all by herself. Since we’ve had so many great experiences with Stonz I was very excited to hear that they have launched Winter Bootz for big kids!
Check out the features of Winter Bootz:
- Waterproof, slip-resistant, lightweight XFS sole
- 600D nylon upper
- Temperature rating: -50oC/-58oF (a must for the freezing cold Ottawa winters!)
- Extra wide opening to pull over pants easily
- Velcro closure for easy on and off
- Adjustable drawstring elastic mechanism for custom fit
- Removable inner lining
- Made in Canada
Ashlyn was sent a pair of Stonz Winter Bootz in Pink/Black (they also have Grey/Black). She immediately put them on and started dancing and skipping around the house. I didn’t intentionally match her outfit to the boots but you have to admit that it’s a pretty cute look.
It wasn’t until much later that night when I went to put her Winter Bootz away that I realized how light they are! The soles appear to be your typical heavy plastic but they are really a light, almost foam-like substance. No wonder Ashlyn was dancing in them, even though they’re a good 2 sizes too big (going at least one size bigger is recommended for winter boots for air flow, so little toes don’t get cold – I wanted to make sure she got the whole winter out of these beauties)! I really love that they have the buckle at the bottom, plus a drawstring at the top AND a Velcro closure so I can help her get them nice and snug at home and she can easily undo the Velcro by herself at school.
One lucky reader will win a $20 gift card to Stonz to spend on any item of your choice!
