Even in this digital age, I still send out ‘real’ mail when I can. Emailing is fast and easy but there’s something special about going to the mailbox and finding an envelope that isn’t a bill or junk! Something that I have wanted ever since we moved to this house was a custom return address stamp. Random, isn’t it? There’s something about a nice stamp that makes sending mail a little nicer for me, and with Christmas cards looming in the not-so-distant future I decided to do a little looking around Etsy. I came across type and title and was charmed by Maggie’s custom typewriter style simple return address rubber stamp.
A little about type and title; Maggie is a graphic designer who’s totally obsessed with type and letters, and who recently went full-time freelance, which was the perfect time to realize her long-time dream of opening a shop full of type-centric goods. She focuses on type design, and also does freelance web design, branding, and more for a wide variety of clients.
Maggie was kind enough to send me my own version of the typewriter stamp that you see above. The stamp designs are hers, and she chooses to sell the wood + rubber stamps not only because they look and feel so classic and DIY, but because you can use whatever color ink pad suits your fancy at any time! As a (former but hopefully future if I can ever find some spare time again) scrapbooker with a collection of ink pads, I totally agree with that sentiment. It hardly takes any more time than peeling off a pre-printed label and it adds a nice personalized touch to the mail that I’m sending out. I didn’t want to post my entire mailing address here but you can see that my stamp is nice and crisp and it has that perfectly imperfect look that I wanted.
