Purex plus Oxi (giveaway)

What’s your laundry style? Fall through Spring, I’m a once a week girl; sort, wash, dry, fold and put away all on Saturday if I can (Friday night if I’m feeling particularly wild – how life changes!) so that we start the week with full closets and clean sheets and towels. In the summer though, all bets are off. When the days are spent outside at the park, or playing in the mud, if I want to have a hope of getting the stains out of my girls clothes I find I have to do laundry almost daily.

I was sent a bottle of Purex plus Oxi with Zout stain remover to try out and I was happy to put it to the test. I don’t tend to change my laundry detergent too often because I’m always afraid it won’t work very well and then I’ve wasted money and my time (to go buy different detergent, do the laundry, go back to by my old standby and redo the laundry). With both Oxi and Zout stain removers, and a hypoallergenic formula, it sounded like a great fit for our family.

I have to admit that in general, my stain removal technique needs some work. I tend to forget to use the stain remover until I’m sorting the loads and putting the clothes into the washing machine, so I’m really appreciating that you can use Purex plus Oxi as a laundry detergent and a stain remover – just pour a little on the stain, rub with your fingers and let sit for 5 minutes. So far it’s doing a great job on getting our stains out and our laundry clean! In fact, it got out a tough tomato-based soup stain from one of my girls’ skirts that I’d thought was there for good. I’ve definitely noticed that our whites and sheets are looking brighter and generally the dirt from the girls’ clothes is coming out even when I forget to stain treat them.

From August 19 to September 19, Purex will be providing one lucky winner with $500! You can enter by clicking this link for the Bid Adieu to Stains Sweepstakes – good luck!

Purex provided me with a sample of Purex plus Oxi detergent in exchange for a product review. However, all the opinions expressed here are always my own.

My best tip is to work on stains with the garment turned inside out. It prevents the dye form fading and makes sure you don’t grind the stain even futher into the fabric.

My tip is for wrinkled clothes. Keep a spray bottle filled up with water with a tsp of fabric softener added. Spray clothes and hang to dry. Saves on energy and makes your clothes smell nice :)

My biggest tip is to read labels on your clothing. Sometimes I forget and wish I hadn’t.
