Give yourself the gift of fitness (giveaway)

I often say that if only I could give up sleep – or harness the energy of a toddler or preschooler – then I could rule the world.  Like every mom I know, there just aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything that I wish I could.  Between the lessons my girls are in, the college course (soon to be 2) that I’m taking, play dates, household chores and of course, holiday preparation, by the end of the day I just want to flop on the couch and drink a glass of wine.  Unfortunately that’s not helping me to feel good in my clothes!

I much prefer working out in my home to joining a gym; partly because I’m really cheap and a gym membership is just not where I want to spend my money at this point, and partly because the only time of day when I could actually go would be in the mornings (thereby losing my sanity-saving play dates with my friends and their kids, or giving up the classes that my girls enjoy so much) or late at night after the girls are in bed (not going to happen!).  I’ve had lots of success in the past with fitness DVDs but lately I can’t seem to set aside an hour to work out so I was very happy when BeachBody reached out with an offer to review their 10-Minute Trainer program.

The 10 Minute Trainer comes with 5 different programs on 3 DVDs, plus a resistance band, cardio belt, a customized workout calendar, rapid results guidebook and 10-Minute recipe guide.  There are also on-the-go workout cards for the truly dedicated!  The program starts you off with one 10-minute workout a day and then gives you recommendations for up to 2 more workouts to add on for an eventual total of 30 minutes.  I wasn’t sure that 10 minutes would be enough but I certainly feel it at the end of each workout!  There is also a short warm up and cool down so it’s about 15 minutes total which is totally do-able even for the busiest mom.  As a bonus, my 3.5 year old loves to do the cardio workout with me which is pretty cute and a great motivator!

I’ve been slacking considerably the past couple of weeks, what with some nasty illnesses and my first big paper to write in a long time, but every night that I make the effort to use the 10-Minute Trainer program, I feel so much better about myself!  My goal is to start waking up when my husband gets up for work and start my day off right with a workout; what a great way to set the tone for the day.  You can follow @BeachBodyCA on Twitter for more tips, tricks and motivation!  10-Minute Trainer retails for $89.99 and is available online as well as at Shoppers Drug Mart, London Drugs, Sears and Target.

    I would like this program because I always use the excuse that I don’t have time to work out. If this only takes 10 minutes to start out, it’s hard to make excuses.

    Running around with three kids all the time makes it hard to get exercise — I could spare 10 mins to get rid of the flabby belly!!!

    This would be ideal for me. I tried the beachbody insanity workout program and made it through the first 4 weeks but then the workouts became too long and I just didnt have the time for it. I’m writing my thesis (for grad school) at the moment and dont have 45 min a day to spend on working out, but 10 minutes sounds great.
