Learning is fun with Carson-Dellosa Publishing (giveaway)

Like many parents I know, I try to find educational toys and books that can teach my girls new skills while still being so much fun that the learning is almost accidental. It can be tricky to find that balance so I am happy to be featuring Carson-Dellosa Publishing!

Founded by teachers 35 years ago, Carson-Dellosa has an incredible variety of educational products for children from toddlers through to high school students. You can search by grade or age range (perfect if you’re not sure what your niece or nephew might be ready for), product type and even by theme. I was sent a few different items to review and I’m very happy with all of them!

Ashlyn’s favourite thing right now is using her ‘learning book’, which is also known as the Beginning Basics Princess Write & Wipe book. It’s a beautifully illustrated hardcover (perfect for car rides!) book with a spiral binding so that the pages lie flat when your child is doing the activities. It comes with a (pink!) dry erase marker with an eraser built into the cap, so Ashlyn can practice writing her letters and numbers, as well as drawing pictures and doing all sorts of different activities. This isn’t a ‘secret’ type of learning but she’s so proud of herself when she masters a new letter and loves to try and write words – which are just a jumble of letters now but will be real words in no time, I’m sure! This book is for ages 4-8 so I know that some of the activities will be too hard for her now but will give her plenty of opportunities to grow and learn at her own rate.

We also have the Spectrum Early Years: Crafts and Gifts book which I’m keeping to myself until the snow falls. It has loads of great ideas for keeping my girls – and their friends – busy during the long winter days ahead and I don’t want to peak too soon.

My girls haven’t seen the backyard bugs floor puzzle yet because it’s going to go under the Christmas tree, but I’ve opened it up and I can’t wait to give it to them! At 5 feet long, it’s definitely going to make a big impression and luckily for me it comes with a handy diagram of each of the bugs names so I’ll be able to answer that question when it comes up.

Products are available at Carson-Dellosa or at a participating retailer!

The Bingo (sight words) would be perfect for my daughter. She is learning sight words at school and this would be a fun way to pratice at home.
