Just keep swimming – Finding Nemo is in Disney 3D!

It’s not often that I get to spend time one-on-one outside of our home with my 3 year old.   Now that she’s not napping, and her little sister isn’t nursing, it’s fun to plan a ‘date’ and spend some special Mommy/big girl time together.  When I asked A if she’d like to see one of her favourite movies, “Finding Nemo” in Disney 3D at the movie theatre, she jumped at the chance – as long there would be popcorn, of course.

Academy Award®-winning film “Finding Nemo” returns to the big screen for the first time ever in thrilling Disney Digital 3D™. In this stunning underwater adventure teeming with memorable comedic characters and heartfelt emotion, “Finding Nemo” follows the momentous journey of an overprotective clownfish named Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) and his young son Nemo (voiced by Alexander Gould).

When the two are unexpectedly separated in the Great Barrier Reef, Nemo is carried far from his ocean home and deposited in a fish tank in a dentist’s office. Buoyed by the companionship of Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres), a friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, Marlin embarks on a dangerous trek and finds himself the unlikely hero of an epic effort to rescue his son––who hatches a few daring plans of his own to return safely home.

A loved her 3D glasses – and I loved that they had child and adult sizes – and from the moment the new Disney•Pixar short, “Partysaurus Rex” (featuring  Buzz, Woody and the rest of the “Toy Story” gang, with Rex receiving the starring role) started, it was magic.  “Finding Nemo” was a beautifully animated movie the first time around, but it’s simply gorgeous in 3D!  I’m always amazed at how well Disney is able to transform their movies into 3D; you’d never know that they weren’t done in 3D to begin with.

One of the biggest bonuses for us is that A (like most of the other children in attendance) is already familiar with the story so the movie experience isn’t interrupted with constant questions about what will happen, and who everyone is.  Instead, I got to spend about 2 hours snuggled with my big girl, who decided she wanted to sit in her mommy’s lap, and enjoy the magic of Disney.  It doesn’t get much better than that!

“Finding Nemo” in Digital Disney 3D is in theatres September 14th; check your local cinema for times!
