Frozen Treasure Hunt

A friend of mine posted this idea on her Facebook page and I had to give it a try!  All you need are some empty plastic containers, a few small toys that are water-safe and a day to get it ready!

  • Add about an inch of water to the bottom of each plastic container, then put them in the freezer for a couple of hours.
  • When that layer is frozen (or mostly frozen, I got a little impatient when I did mine!) I put a small plastic toy in each container and added more water.
  • Repeat the process until the last toy is covered.

The next day, we brought out some large plastic tubs and a roasting pan that had some water in the bottom, and the girls – two 3 year olds and a 1 year old – had a frozen treasure hunt!  We had to bring out a few cups of warm water to help things along but it was a great way to spend a hot morning!
