Popular Baby Names by Postal Code

This is crazy!  While browsing a search engine for baby names (we’ve decided on a boy and girl name but for some reason I can’t stop looking), I came across this page.  If you go to Open File: Ottawa Baby File, you can see what the most popular baby names in Ottawa are based on your postal code. It seems a little creepy to me out of principle, but it’s also a great way to see what names will be common when your little one goes to school and helps you to avoid (if you want) having a popular Read more […]

Sid’s Sing Along – review & giveaway

Sid the Science Kid is a show that is new to me and Ashlyn but is gaining in popularity in our house.  Sid is a five year old with a love of learning and especially of science.  It’s aimed at preschoolers, so it’s a little old for my 1.5 year old, but she loves the songs so we were happy to receive a copy of Sid’s Sing Along to review. The synopsis: Sid wonders what he could possibly do on his day off from school.  But when all of his friends come over for a play date, they quickly put their Read more […]

What’s for breakfast – waffles and mok honey

I love weekend breakfasts, when we have more time to have something a little more fun than the usual cereal/bagel.  One of our favourite things to make is waffles and mok honey (homemade syrup), thanks to the recipes from my good friend Joleen.  It’s easy, delicious, and very impressive to guests when you tell them that you made the syrup yourself!  Add some turkey bacon and a big mug of coffee and you’ve got the perfect Sunday morning.  Waffles Ingredients: 2 eggs 2 cups buttermilk (or Read more […]

miniOrganics is an Australian  company that makes certified organic products for both mom and baby.  Their motto is “our children deserve nothing less”.  All of their products are free from genetically-modified ingredients, pesticide residues, petrochemicals, sulphates and parabens – all of the bad stuff that moms (and dads) worry about exposing their new babies to. For review I was sent the Gentle Baby Wash, Nourishing Body Oil and Soothing Nipple Balm.  I have used the Gentle Baby Wash Read more […]
