We just spent our Thanksgiving weekend with both sides of our families and had a wonderful time. My girls are so lucky to have loving families within visiting distance, and with Thanksgiving over (for us Canadians) and Christmas on the way, it’s a time of year that I really take stock of how blessed we are and try to give back to those in need.
Seventh Generation is currently running a “Buy One Give One” promotion with their Free and Clear Diapers. For the entire month of October, every time a package of their diapers is purchased anywhere in Canada, Seventh Generation is donating a package of diapers to 40 shelters in Nova Scotia, Quebec,
Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia (you can see the list of shelters that will benefit from this great program). Their goal is to donate 240,000 diapers across Canada!
Seventh Generation graciously sent me 4 packages of diapers so that I could make a donation close to my home. I chose Harmony House which is the only second-stage shelter in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a place for women and their children to go after the initial emergency shelter, when they have ongoing support, safety or advocacy needs. It gives them access to supportive programming. A second-stage shelter provides individual apartments at rents geared to income, and the women can live with their children (where applicable) for up to a year.
I am reminded again and again how good my life is and I am grateful to Seventh Generation for reminding me, especially at this time of year. If you want to feel all warm and fuzzy, remember to pick up a package of Seventh Generation diapers next time you’re at the grocery store or drugstore! You can also join the 7th Gen Nation for access to rewards, coupons and special offers.
Disclosure – I am participating in the Seventh Generation program by Mom Central Canada. I received compensation as a thank you for my participation. The opinions on this blog are my own.
