Undercover Mama

It’s so nice to be (mostly) back into my pre-pregnancy clothes.  I missed them, especially my cute summer shirts.  Unfortunately, it can be tough to wear them and nurse Rowan without exposing my stomach to the world, and believe me, no one wants to see that right now.  Undercover Mama is a great product that helps breastfeeding moms “make any shirt a nursing shirt”.

What is Undercover Mama?  “Undercover Mama™ is a patent-pending strapless undershirt that attaches to any nursing bra, allowing for a mother to feed her baby without exposing her stomach or side. It stays attached to any strap and opens with the flap of a nursing bra when it is time to breastfeed and allows women to wear any shirt they want and still be able to nurse comfortably.”

I was sent an Undercover Mama in white.  Undercover Mama recommends that you order a size smaller than your regular shirt size..  I took this advice and got a small.  It fits perfectly.  Not too tight to be uncomfortable or creating lumps where I don’t need them, but slim enough that it fits under a shirt without creating bulk.  I’m sure some of you are thinking to yourselves, “well, why don’t you just wear a tank underneath your regular shirt”.  I’ve done that and it works, but this works so much better!

First, you don’t have to worry about stretching out your tanks from pulling them down every time that you feed your baby.  Second, the Undercover Mama attaches to any nursing bra so you just unclip the bra and the Undercover Mama folds down with the cup, which is much easier than maneuvering separate pieces.  My favourite part is how easy it is when you’re done – just clip the cup back to the bra and the Undercover Mama is back in place!  It works with any nursing bra and comes in a variety of neutral (and not so neutral – I’m loving the pink!) colours to match any outfit in your closet.

I can also vouch for how easily it works.  Just today I used it while at Ashlyn’s music class when Rowan decided that she needed a snack.  I was so happy I’d put my Undercover Mama on underneath the non-nursing shirt that I’d chosen for the day!  As you can see below, you can’t even tell that I have it on (I lifted it at the bottom to show the length but my purple shirt is long enough that it’s mostly hidden).  I have it attached with both the loop and the hook, but really that’s just to keep them lying flat and out of the way, one or the other would be more than enough.

This is an item that I think would make a great gift for a new mom who was planning to breastfeed!  Heck, I can see using this well past when Rowan has weaned, it will be perfect for wearing with low-rise jeans and shirts that are just that little bit too short.

You can buy Undercover Mama online for $24.99 USD.

I LOVE my undercove Mama & have recommended it to every pregnant and nursing mom I know! I got the cream shirt, but really do need to order another as I wear it almost every day.

I love the idea but I don’t actually like them very much. I use Bravado nursing bras and the tops don’t click in very well. I too ordered a small instead of my regular medium and find it’s tight enough that it’s tough to pull down.

I love that this is a new company and I wish them the best. I’m glad the tops work for you!

I love Undercover Mama. It snaps on easily with all of my nursing bras, and I love not showing the whole world my post-preggo belly…. I need to get a few extras, as I might wear out the one I have!

I’ve seen these before and I have contemplated purchasing them. My babe was born 7 days ago and I’m already feeling the lack of “fashionable” nursing clothes. Hence, I’ve been living in my nursing bra and pajama pants (no I haven’t gotten out much since I gave birth to my babe).
