I have to admit, I’m not totally sure how much weight I gained when I was pregnant with Rowan. My midwives didn’t require me to weigh myself at every visit and although I did weigh myself the day before I went into labour (in case I wanted/needed drugs), I seem to have blocked out that number. I’m pretty sure it was around the 35 lb mark though, which is quite similar to what I gained with Ashlyn.
At any rate, I’m definitely noticing a difference in how quickly the weight is coming off the second time around. Ashlyn was a fairly fussy baby, who only napped when she was in motion. Add that to a beautiful spring in Vancouver in 2009 and we were going for walks almost every day for at least an hour! That is definitely not the case now. While we go for walks almost every day it’s not same. If you’ve ever walked with a toddler, you understand that it’s either a full-on run or a snail’s pace, checking out every leaf/rock/crack/bug/piece of garbage along the way, and forget about suggesting that she should go in the stroller! Here’s what I look like now; I must admit that having a baby in a carrier really helps to conceal the belly
I’m about 5 lbs away from my old pants fitting comfortably and 10 lbs away from feeling really good about how I look. For me, it’s all lack of energy. Either both girls are napping at different times, which means no exercise, or they’re both sleeping and quite frankly I’m enjoying the silence! By the time they’re both in bed at night it could be 10 or 11pm and there is no way I’m doing anything but crashing on the couch. I need to get into a routine but it hardly seems worth it with all the travelling we have planned over the next month. I need someone to come and kick my butt into gear!
