One of the first things I get asked when we take Rowan to the doctor for her check ups is “how’s tummy time going?”. It’s so important to give babies time off their backs and Lamaze Tummy Time Air is a fun way to encourage tummy time!
“Tummy Time is an important developmental phase for all newborns, and Lamaze Tummy Time Air offers baby a fun and comfortable opportunity for encouraging tummy time play. This innovative activity gym features two ends of play with bright colors and large, friendly eyes inviting baby to focus on a single object, thus supporting healthy eye development. As baby lies across the mat’s tummy section, the flexible, breathable mesh material adapts to baby’s body, distributing baby’s torso weight evenly and minimizing the pressure on baby’s abdomen.”
We started putting Rowan on the mat when she was 2 months old and not really holding her head up for long periods of time yet. She seems to find the mesh platform to be quite a bit more comfortable than the pillow we were using before.
I really like the size of the mat; it’s big enough for her to play on – with or without her big sister – but doesn’t take up half my family room floor, and the animals are really cute. Ashlyn steals the mirror all the time to look at herself so it’s rarely on the mat, but I think Rowan will start being more interested in her own reflection soon.
At almost 3 months old, Rowan has suddenly gained a lot of upper body strength and has started playing with the toys attached to the platform. The crinkly corn is her favourite, with it’s bright colours and fun noises when she manages to get her hands on it.
I’ve washed the mat a few times now and there haven’t been any issues; it looks exactly like it did when I took it out of the box! I particularly appreciate that I can put the mat in the dryer so that it’s ready to go again in the morning.
The Lamaze Tummy Time Air is recommended from birth and up and will be useful for quite a while, as we can still use the mat for playtime on the floor after Rowan outgrows the platform. It retails for $33.99 (SRP).
