For the last month, I’ve been waiting to see Disney Live! Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show when it came to Ottawa on January 8th. My daughter is too young to remember that something is going to happen, so I’ve had to be excited all by myself!
We arrived at the Civic Centre about 30 minutes before the pre-show started, which gave us lots of time to walk around and see all of the fun toys and souvenirs that were for sale, not to mention the food! I’ll admit, we couldn’t pass up the mini-donuts, but we were able to refrain from any other purchases. We found our seats and got ready for the show.
There were lots of little Princesses and Buzz Lightyears in the audience! Ashlyn doesn’t have a Disney costume (yet) but we still thought she was looking pretty cute. She started out in her own seat but quickly moved to either my lap or Daddy’s lap, or standing on the floor in front of us. We brought her monkey backpack and she held him for almost the whole show.
I was a little worried before we went that she might be too young at only 20 months and wouldn’t be able to pay attention to the whole thing. That was not an issue – from the moment the pre-show started she was mesmerized. They played the theme song to “Special Agent Oso” and she started dancing and didn’t stop for the rest of the show! Here are some of the 100+ pictures we took of the show.
There was lots of audience interaction/participation and kids were dancing all around us! A few lucky kids (and their moms) even got to be a part of the “opening act” for Mickey’s talent show.
The only complaint that we had is that the set was designed in a way that we could only see about half of the screen from our seats – the curtain blocked the rest. Fortunately, the live characters were almost always in view and we didn’t miss anything important.
We had a wonderful time and I’m sure this is the first of many Disney Live! shows that our family will see over the years. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon, and I hope that my giveaway winner has as good of a time as we did!
