The Original Christmas Classics on Blu-ray – review

Watching Christmas movies on tv is something that I look forward to every year.  When I was in university, we’d actually write on the calendar what night our favourites were on, so we could work our studying around them!  This year my daughter is old enough to begin to understand the Christmas hoopla and I’m so excited to be able to start traditions with her.

For review, I was sent The Original Christmas Classics Collection on Blu-ray.  This set has “four of  the most beloved holiday TV specials of all time”, available for the first time on Blu-ray!  The set includes:

  • Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
  • Frosty the Snowman
  • Frosty Returns
  • Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

I thought I’d start with Frosty the Snowman as it seemed like the right length for Ashlyn’s attention span.  As you can see, she was riveted!  She loved Frosty and Hocus-Pocus (the rabbit) and watched the whole thing in one sitting.  I think Rudolph will be up next, although I’ve always loved Santa Claus is Coming to Town and the Burgermeister Meisterburger.  It’s great to see these classics in such great shape, with perfect colour and sound – and it’s even better to be able to pop one in the DVD player whenever the mood strikes instead of waiting for it to be on tv!

The Original Christmas Classics Collection on Blu-ray is available wherever you  buy your Blu-rays and the SRP i$44.99, although at this time of year you may luck out and find a sale!  This is definitely a set that everyone, naughty and nice, would enjoy finding under the tree.
