ScentSicles – review

Full disclosure – we’re an artificial tree family.  With a toddler, two curious cats and possible travel during the holiday season, a real tree just doesn’t fit into our lives right now.  I love the ease of setting up our fake tree (and the ease of the cleanup!) but what I really miss is that wonderful Christmas tree smell when you walk in the door!

Thanks to ScentSicles scented ornaments, I can now have the best of both worlds!  For review, I was sent a package in the “White Pine” scent.  Each tube comes with 8 ScentSicles, and each ScentSicle will scent a regular-sized room for a minimum of three weeks.

Because our main floor is quite open, I’ve put two Scentsicles on our tree in our front living room/dining room combination, and I find that’s the perfect amount of scent for me.  I notice it when I open the front door and it even carries up the stairs on occasion, but it isn’t overpowering and doesn’t reach the kitchen.

In the past, I’ve had problems with scented products because the smell gave me a headache, but I haven’t had any reactions to the ScentSicles.  Maybe it’s because they use pure fragrance oils instead of artificial scents?  I’ve tucked mine in to the tree, but they really can just be hung as regular ornaments.  They’d be great tucked into a wreath at the front door!  I also like that they’re biodegradable.

ScentSicles come in three tree scents: Douglas Fir, Blue Spruce and White Pine, and retail for $6.99.  You can find a store near you that carries them here, or you can order them online from Home Depot.
