Mixbook – review & giveaway

Like a lot of moms, I take a LOT of pictures.  I have them on my desktop, on my laptop, on my Facebook, on my blog and in my Photobucket account.  I love to share them with family and friends, but remembering where they are is a challenge on a good day!  I still have a huge stack of pictures that I printed off months ago sitting on my counter, waiting for me to date and file them….and I haven’t had any printed since our summer vacation, so I’m way behind.  I love the idea of printing photo books or custom calendars for Christmas presents, but who has the time to figure out where the right pictures are, then spend all that time uploading them – possibly having to download special software to do it – then edit and print?  Just the thought makes me tired.

I’m so happy to have been introduced to Mixbook!  This is the first website that I have seen that allows you to create printed photo books,  calendars, and cards for all occasions by linking to accounts you already have.  That’s right, you can use the pictures you’ve already uploaded to Facebook and Photobucket, or you can upload from your computer.  The prices are right too – ranging from $6.99 for a softcover 4×6″ book to $49.99 for a 14×11″ hardcover coffee table book!  At those prices, you can afford to give a personalized photo book to all of the grandparents for Christmas.

See how easy it is to use by watching their demo video:

I was lucky enough to review one of Mixbook’s calendars and while I’m still playing around with it on their site, I know I’m going to love it when I finally finish!  You can add as many events as you want, so I’m in the middle of adding all those birthdays from this year’s calendar so they don’t get missed next year.  My favourite part is that you can add pictures to the individual dates, so I’m putting pictures of the “who” for each event as a visual cue that something important happens that day!  It’s really easy to grab a picture from wherever you have it stored, and everything is totally customizable, from the layouts to the backgrounds to stickers you can add for a bit of fun.

You can also give other people access to your creations, so even separated by distance you and a friend or family member could create a book or calendar together, pooling your ideas and pictures.

You can save 20% on your purchase at Mixbook by using the code BRAINMX20!
