IntelliGender – review & giveaway

What is the most common question every mom-to-be is asked?  I have to say it’s “Is it a boy or a girl?”, and that’s a question I’ve never been able to answer before.  My husband and I decided with our first baby not to find out at the ultrasound and we loved the guessing and anticipation, so we won’t find out with this one either….but that doesn’t stop people from asking, or me from dying of curiosity!

I was very excited when IntelliGender agreed to do a review and giveaway on Not Just Baby Brain.  In case you aren’t familiar with IntelliGender, they are the makers of an at-home Gender Prediction Test that boasts an 82 % accuracy rate.  The test is available at many major drugstore chains in the USA, or you can place your order online.

I decided to wait a week or so after I received the test to take it, so I was 14 weeks and 4 days (yes, I think many pregnant ladies know EXACTLY how pregnant they are) to take it.  I forgot to take a picture of the kit before I used it, but it comes with a specimen cup, a syringe, and the IntelliGender test.  Basically, you pee in the cup, use the syringe to insert a certain amount of urine into the test vessel, then replace the seal and swirl it for 10 seconds.  Wait 5 minutes and if the test is green, the result is BOY.  If it’s orange, it’s GIRL.  It’s no harder than using a home pregnancy test!

So what was my result?  See for yourself!

Now, I’m not running out to buy a whole bunch of blue clothes, but it’s fun to think that we could be having a son.  I guess we’ll find out for sure in 25-27 weeks!

IntelliGender has branched out into pre-natal and post-natal products as well.  Their IntelliCeuticals line includes Elasti-Oil, which I was happy to try out.  Elasti-Oil is a massage oil that you heat in a cup of water and apply to your belly/legs whenever you need a little pick-me-up.  It features a number of essential aromatherapy oils that offer a number of benefits, either emotional or physical, or both.

I love the smell of it, it’s not sweet or cloying but more of a citrus and woodsy scent.  If your nose is on overdrive due to pregnancy and you’re sensitive to smells, this may not be the product for you, but luckily I haven’t had that problem so I use it every night.  Another great feature is that is seems to absorb almost instantly, so I haven’t had any problems with an oily residue on my clothing.  I do wish that there was a dropper or small spout to make applying the oil a little easier.

IntelliGender has even launched their own blog that  you can check out!
