One Hand Washes The Other is a store run out of Canton, CT that was created by Becca after the bath products she makes started taking over her accessories store, White Flag Designs. I am always on the lookout for great smelling bath products at a great price, so I couldn’t wait to open my package! For review, I was able to try some of her best selling items: a solid scent, lip butter, Sweet Cream Emulsifying Sugar Scrub, and a Whipped Bathing Creme.
The solid scent comes in a tube similar to a lip balm, which is so convenient for throwing in your purse for a mid-day touch up. I chose Happy, which smells exactly like the perfume that I love. It’s subtle but I could still smell it on my wrists at the end of the day. I really like that you can get the scent exactly where you want, without wasting any because the nozzle wasn’t pointing where you thought it was – uh, not that I’ve done that before.
When I saw that OHWTO had a lip butter in “cookie dough”, I couldn’t resist! This was the first thing that I opened when my package arrived and it definitely smells like cookies, which is both good and bad because it makes me want a snack. The lip butter is one of the best I’ve ever used; it goes on smooth but not greasy, the smell is divine, and (this is important for me since I always have one with me) it doesn’t melt if you keep it in your pants pocket all day. I’ve had other lip butters that became a goopy mess if you carried them too close to your body but I have not had a problem with OHWTO’s lip butter!
The Sweet Cream Emulsifying Sugar Scrub in Uprising is “an herbal scent starring lavender and cedarwood, along with lemongrass, rosemary, thyme, vetiver, and fir”, although I swear I smell ginger when I use it. Regardless, this is an amazing scrub! It’s scrubby enough that I feel like it’s working, but it’s not painful to use, and the scent really wakes me up in the morning! It’s also moisturizing so I only need to put lotion on my driest parts (elbows, knees, feet) after using it.
A little of the sugar scrub goes a long way, which is a huge bonus in my opinion; I hate having to use half a jar to get the job done.
The last product that I tried was the Whipped Bathing Creme in Lost At Sea, which is lovely and relaxing. The description from OHWTH’s blog: “You can almost taste the salty sea air as it crashes the against the bow of the ship, being cast about amongst the wild green and blue waves. Inhale deeply the tropical bounty of coconuts which could only have been bestowed upon you by Neptune himself, and the bouquet of citrus fruits brought aboard and stowed in the ship’s hold for just such an occasion, and have not a care in the world that you are lost at sea.” I couldn’t resist and I’m so glad I didn’t! You’ll notice a white band around the top of the jar in the picture below, I’m not sure what exactly the material is, but it’s to ensure that there are no leaks when your product is mailed to you. I loved it because it works but it still peels off easily, so if you forget to remove it before you shower you can still use it. I think we’ve all brought a new product into the shower before and realized too late that it’s impossible to open for the first time with wet hands!
In addition to smelling wonderful and lathering like a dream – you only need to use a little to get a lot of suds – it’s also a multi-tasker: you can also use it as shaving cream! I was very skeptical of this because I have shaved, with disastrous results, with soap before but I was in a hurry and figured I’d give it a shot. It actually worked equally as well as what I usually use (conditioner) and it allowed me to skip a step in my shower routine. This is perfect for the days that you wake up late or need to take a fast shower AND still shave!
